In 1969 the late great Isaac Hayes recorded a version on Hot Buttered Soul. “Walk On By” has been recorded by countless artists, and has also been sampled by Slick Rick, Biggie, Ludacris, Wu-Tang etc. Wu-Tang sampled “Walk On By” on Wu-Tang’s “I Can’t Go To Sleep (feat. Isaac Hayes was a great musician and song writer who will be missed. His Shaft score is a historic master piece and he had “bling” before it was called that.
Rest in Peace Mr. Cool!

a few years ago in walking around in brooklyn with a guy who always comes across the best stuff, we found an 8-track player with a box a tapes to go with it. we grabbed some beer and went to our friend’s house around the corner to listen to our score.
the hank williams 8-track was quite a gem coming out of that little speaker on the side. but the clear winner of that golden afternoon was hot buttered soul. give thanks.
